I'm in the USA!

Howdy All!  I'm in the states now!  After a long 9 hour flight to New Jersey, 3 hour layover, and a 4 hour flight to San Antonio - we are now in the Great State of Texas!!!!  Oh, I didn't add the 2 hours to the airport!  You do the math!  Anyway I can now scratch fun in the sun off my summer bucket list!  After landing on US soil, we started our medical appointments with American doctors and now we're treating ourselves to some great Tex-Mex food at a small mom & pop place!  Awesome food! We'll be here for a couple of days and then we'll drive up to Oklahoma.  Until then!

Back to School Freebie!

I'm packing my bags and crossing things off my list to make sure I don't forget anything before I fly to the states for 5 glorious weeks of family, fun, and the sun!  One of the items I do is to develop my take home folders so that I can take them with me to the states and have them laminated at a teacher store.  It's so much cheaper than to get it done here in Germany.  If you'd like a copy, simply click here to grab a free copy.  For the first 25 people to contact me or leave a comment, I'll add your  name and the name of your school  to each of the pages!

I spent the day running errands and as I was driving home - I decided to stop and check out the Mosel River Valley which is just up the road from home.  I to through this area every single day as I drive to work everyday.  This is one site I will miss when I retire!

Migration Fun!

Since my kindergarten classroom theme is a Safari one, I revolve my activities around animals.  In January we Hibernate and in June we Migrate.  This involves presenting to the parents - an end of year program to show them all the things we’ve learned in kindergarten.  We sing, sign, dance, read books and share our writing journals.  The children honor their peers by selecting those that have worked the hardest and who have been the kindest to the entire class by selecting them to carry our animal sticks.  See below!    Not only do I center my activities and special events around animals – I also use animal prints for my classroom décor.  Will be sharing that in a Back to School post.

Also check out more pictures of our animal safari – a popular activity with the kids.

Oh, It's Time to Say Good-bye to Our Friends!

This is our last week of school! And in some ways I am sad to see my students go but I am so ready for a slower pace of life.  This year has been a challenge with so many changes but I’m sure that happens everywhere and we are certainly no exception.  Uncertainties await us in the fall and if anyone can adapt it’s our military families and kids.

We have our Animal Safari and Migration to look forward to and busy signing each other’s yearbooks.  To make it easier on our kindergarten kids, I simply have them write their name on this form, copy it and insert it into their books.  It makes it so much easier and less confusing for them. Grab it here if you’d like a copy!

Last Friday, we spent the time discussing our summer plans and sharing where we’ll be for the entire summer.  (We’re still on the original summer break of 10 weeks with the exception of our NATO schools – they are on a European schedule). After reading books about summer, we wrote about our summer plans.  (Grab copy here if you’d like).  Here are some final products.

In the next few weeks, I plan to share some of my summer adventures, traveling through some of the southwestern states to get to the I Teach Kindergarten Conference in Las  Vegas!  You may wonder – what’s exciting about this??  For me it will be such a joy and pleasure to see the sun, drive through Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Nevada… such different terrain than what I see here in Germany.  Also, it means so much to me to be able to meet stateside teachers and be able to share and pick their brains for ideas!  They are so creative and seem to love what they’re doing!  So, yes! I am so ready for a warm and friendly summer experience.  If you are headed to the “I Teach K” conference, please email me:   the.beezy.teacher@gmail.com!  Would love to hook up with as many teachers while I’m there!

On a sad note, heavy rains has left the rivers overflowing and causing a lot of flooding in central Europe including Germany.

Summer Bucket List Linky!

Miss Kindergarten, A Cupcake for theTeacher, and A Modern Teacher are having a Summer Bucket List Linky Party.  I believe you link up and tell all about the fun things you have planned for summer vacation.
Brrrr!  You mean to tell me it’s summer already?  It may be June 2 everywhere but I can tell you it’s still cold and dreary here in Germany!   As I sit here in my extra pair of long johns, double socks and extra pull over I’m having a difficult time coming up with some mental pictures of what my Summer Bucket List will look like!  Maybe when I get ready to fly to the states in a couple of weeks – it will be easier?

I still have about two weeks left of school, along with all the things that come with end of year close out but I already have my  a summer bucket list ready!
First thing for me is to find some SUN and lots of it!  I'll take the heat, humidity and all that comes with being in the SUN!!!

I will sleep in late – 5:30 am?  Yes – this does sound great when I have to wake up every morning at 4:30 during the work week!

Fly to the states for 5 glorious weeks of sun, family, restaurants, movies, shopping!
Drive up to Las Vegas to attend the kindergarten conference and meet lots of stateside teachers!

Shop on TpT and for next year’s school supplies and mail it back.

Buy me a brand new coat, long johns, and plenty of socks since I’m burning this year’s set!

VACATION with my husband hopefully to one of the Greek Islands when we get back to cloudy Germany (and yes it almost always is cloudy and cold)!
